SMALTA

In 1967, Alla Horska, with Victor Zaretskyi, Halyna Zubchenko, Hryhorii Pryshchedko, Borys Plaksii, Vasyl Parakhin, and Nadiia Svitlychna, created the Boryviter mural in Mariupol. Not the way the Soviet government wanted to see it — but the way Ukrainian culture wanted to speak through it. By the hands of artists, with the images of nature, and with fragments of smalto and tiles — despite prohibitions and for the freedom of voice.
